Keeping Cool in the Sun

At Tara Spa Therapy, we keep cool and promote safe sun throughout the summer months by combining products from our TARA Sun, Ayurveda and Aromatherapy Collections. From an Ayurvedic perspective, summer is an expression of PITTA, the fire element.
Tips for Spa Goers:
To cool that fire and bring Pitta back in balance, look for treatments using products that cool and soothe, such as Mud, which is an anti-inflammatory. Another excellent choice would be the hydrating and soothing Aloe Body Wrap, which Tara Spa Therapy introduced to Spas many years ago. Aloe Vera cools the fire by balancing the Ph both internally and externally, provides instant relief from sunburn and restores moisture to the skin. Since one of the sites of Pitta energy is the eyes, cotton pads dipped in rose water placed over the eyes during treatments (you can also do this at home) would aid the body's cooling process. Rose, according to
Ayurveda is soothing to Pitta.

Another way to balance that Pitta fire through Ayurveda and Aromatherapy is to combine TARA Pitta Essential Oil with a few spritzes of TARA Pitta Face & Body Mist and apply to your face and body. Pitta aromatherapy essential oil is soothing, cooling,
uplifting and rejuvenating -- especially good for sensitive or easily irritated skin.
Sun Protection Products:
The key to staying cool and being cool about spending time in the sun is to first protect, then soothe and moisturize. And because the skin is our main avenue of absorption, using high quality products that are as natural as possible is important.
