Grodjesk Showcases Regional Specialties In Spa Du Soleil's Design & Menu
Carmel, CA 2001 -- Spa consultant Tara Grodjesk of TARA Spa Therapy, Inc., recently completed an exciting spa consulting project for Spa du Soleil at Auburge du Soleil, Napa Valley's most luxurious country inn. Tara specializes in creating unique interpretations for new spa designs that embrace the qualities and products indigenous to a region and reflect them back throughout the physical design and treatment menu. Spa du Soleil's physical design and menu express the natural beauty of the California's wine country, incorporating outdoor spaces into the facility and showcasing the abundance of the Napa Valley's flowers, herbs, olive groves and vineyards. Grodjesk worked with the executive committee and architects to define the concept and philosophy of the Spa and to create a position that is aligned with the well-established image of the hotel and restaurant.
It has been an honor to be a part of this prestigious project since its inception for the last two years, and seeing it finally come to fruition has been very exciting," Grodjesk said. The concept and philosophy developed was carefully integrated into the design of a structure that offers each guest an opportunity to reconnect with themselves, each other and nature in an intimate environment. Spa Director Loma Alexander and I created an original interpretation of spa services, drawing from the many natural resources of the Napa Valley: grapes, olives, minerals, flowers and herbs as the healing agents for therapeutic treatments. Each category The Valley, The Grove, The Garden and The Vineyard includes massage, facial, exfoliation, masque and wrap, foot therapy and hair and scalp treatments.
Anchored by a central courtyard punctuated by fountains and 100-year old olive trees, the 7,000 square foot Spa du Soleil reflects the French country inn charm and elegant simplicity of Auberge du Soleil. The six treatment rooms' including two designed specifically for couples' surround the courtyard, each bathed in natural light streaming through French doors that lead to a private patio with outdoor shower or tub. In addition, Grodjesk developed and assisted in the formulation of an exclusive line of personal care products for the hotel rooms and spa, incorporating organic herbs and flowers native to the region.
